Terms of Service

The plain-English terms for using ModelFit. It is a free, independent information tool. By using the site, the data, or the APIs, you agree to these terms.

Last updated: June 21, 2026

1. What ModelFit is

modelfit.io is a free, independent guide that helps you pick open-weight AI models for the hardware you own. It is operated by ModelFit. It is an information service only. It is not a shop, and it sells no hardware or software.

2. Recommendations and speed figures are estimates

Our recommendations, compatibility calls, and tokens-per-second figures are estimates, derived from hardware specifications, memory math, and published model data. Speed numbers are labeled as estimates wherever they appear. Real-world performance depends on your exact configuration, software versions, quantization, settings, and thermals, and will vary. The open-weight model landscape changes weekly; data can become out of date.

Treat ModelFit as a well-researched starting point, not as a guarantee. Before you buy hardware or rely on a result, verify the current specs, prices, and model availability with the vendor yourself. Prices shown anywhere on the site are approximate editorial references, are not provided by any retailer, and are not live.

3. Provided "as is", no warranty

The site, the data, the recommendations, the open dataset, the APIs, and the command-line tool are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ModelFit will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss arising from a purchase decision, a deployment, lost time, or lost data, that results from using the site, the data, or the tools. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Your sole remedy if you are unhappy with the site is to stop using it.

5. Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, ModelFit earns from qualifying purchases. We may also earn a commission on cloud-GPU sign-ups, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate revenue never influences which models or hardware we recommend. Full detail is on our about & disclosure page.

6. Acceptable use of the site, APIs, and tools

We offer public, machine-readable endpoints (including the open dataset, search, and the MCP/agent endpoints) and an OAuth identity endpoint, for agents and developers. You may use them, but you must not:

  • place an unreasonable load on the service, or disrupt it for others;
  • strip required attribution from the open dataset (see below);
  • use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass others;
  • misrepresent ModelFit estimates as measured benchmarks or as ModelFit's endorsement.

The endpoints are provided as-is with no uptime guarantee. We may rate-limit, change, or withdraw any endpoint or OAuth credential at any time, especially if it is abused.

7. Open data and open source

Our hardware-and-model compatibility dataset is published under CC BY 4.0: you may reuse it, including commercially, if you credit ModelFit (modelfit.io). The @wecko-ai/modelfit command-line tool and library are released separately under the MIT license, which governs that software. The dataset aggregates publicly available specifications and model metadata; third-party benchmark figures we cite belong to their original sources, which we attribute.

8. Intellectual property and trademarks

The ModelFit name, logo, and original site content are ours. All other product names, logos, and brands are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification and descriptive purposes only. Apple, Mac, MacBook, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and iPhone are trademarks of Apple Inc.; NVIDIA, GeForce, and RTX of NVIDIA Corporation; AMD and Ryzen of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.; and the various model names (Llama, Qwen, Gemma, Mistral, Claude, and others) of their respective owners. Use of these names does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those companies. ModelFit is independent and is not affiliated with Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, Ollama, or any AI model vendor.

9. Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator’s principal place of establishment.
